Tip Type Everywhere

Here is a selection of my old photo archives, taken in Europe (Germany, England, Spain, France and Italy), where the lettering becomes an integral part of the urban context. There are many signs, other graphics are applied or stencil. They are the expression of a culture old and new, can be considered true works of art. Have you ever looked carefully down a drain? Do it, there are fantastic!

Calligriffico, a new font!

After 4 weeks of absence'm back with something new: my first, almost seriously, typeface! It all started about a month ago to be precise, when you followed the footsteps of Francesco da Bologna said "Griffo". This great typographer, engraver and type designer is one of the figures that have increasingly characterized the Italian art of printing. To him we owe the first Italic, Bold the current (in September 1500) marked by a slight tilt to the right by about 8-10 °, the shape of cursive writing used Griffo was inspired by the papal chancery and the humanists of 'era. The firmness of character allowed the publication of books in small format (pocket) and very small. Think that may have also created the character punches 4 incredible but some mini-editions are on display at the Library Trivulziana of Milan (see to believe). And here in his example of his work:

Hence the analysis of forms and peculiarities of character, then, using a handwriting tool has been re-marked (the Parallel Pen) and here below, after a week of anti-continuous with FontLab, the Calligriffico ( or the Griffo-Calligraphic):
