What you may not know is that this musical project was created in 1998 by Damon Albarn, leader of the illustrator Jamie Hewlett and Blur (then his roommate). The band consists of four characters in the form of animation: 2D (vocals and keyboard), Murdoc (bass), Noodle (guitar, keyboards and vocals) and Russel (drums and percussion). The band's music is a collaboration between artists, Albarn being the only contributor permanent and the kind reported by Wikipedia is a mix of different influences: dub, hip hop, alternative rock, pop and electronic music. Brilliant was the construction of a fantastic story of the cartoon characters, drawn with a unique style, which is enriched year by year since 2001. Below the excursus that I found in the Gorillaz fan page (click the link for better reading):
Here we are told of events that did not know, Noodle has been recreated as a cyborg from Murdoc with DNA recovered after the disaster of El Mañana, is still alive? The fact that 2D is kidnapped, Murdoc, and always led to Plastic Beach, an island made entirely of plastic floating in the ocean in a deserted place on the planet. This will be the rebirth of the band ... and Russel, what happened?
For the curious there for sale, although almost impossible to find now, the Biography of the group: a book of 350 pages which should explain all of their history and it is titled the Rise of the Ogre.
More information is worthy of note that the videos are produced by Gorillaz great English studio Passion Pictures (you can admire their studies by taking a cross-road of Oxford Street in London in front of you will open a giant glass that is their headquarters). I do not understand why it has gone past the 3d videos (especially Stylo), which I think makes it not as the fantastic animated illustrations in 2D, but ... I leave to you the final verdict.

This discipline is not common, but could become a "challenge" in every field. Let's imagine, complex networks are everywhere: food systems, transportation, information databases, market share ... any large system. Functional views are more innovative of statistical analysis. These should give an overall sense of the system and the user thanks to a strong visual language that uses color, form and line, hierarchy and structure are communicated clearly and adequately.
This map of Stefaner Moritz is a dynamic visual exploration to find out where New Yorkers have moved in the last ten years.
This however is a conceptual map of Neal Peterson: "Lyrical mapping" is a system that connects to the lyrical content of songs in order to produce an alternative, visual interpretation.
These images are part of a large collection of city maps from geotagged Flickr and Picasa. Eric Fischer has given the speed at which they were traveling photographers in different urban landscapes. Here the work of the artist-designer Tatiana Plakhova, a union of points in space and in the deep sea (hence the Visual Complexity becomes art).
And how about this ? Instead of sweeping spam under the carpet, the authors of Spamghetto have decided to save some 'of junk mail in order to transform it into a wallpaper: Genius!
Look at the site, there are examples of truly original!

This year there were many adhesions in 3 different categories: Illustrations, art books and video projects, here the artists nominated. It was a pleasure to participate in the competition and the presentation evening, held last Friday.
Spectacular! I did not expect such an event, the Berliners are light years ahead of us! Lots of the exhibits (including those of the artists nominated at Yia) with music and performance. All set in the new headquarters of Illustrative, the Direktorenhaus, a magnificent multi-storey structure.
Below the Swatch produced in the last edition (Takashi Koshii graphics) and some pictures of the evening:
Following the fantastic project RGB Carnovsky where walls covered with wallpaper sensitive to light create different effects in relation to the light stimulus to which they are subjected. The three patterns are superimposed and alternono: the result is disorienting images that alternate and become a dream space in which raffiguarto is the "original chaos".
But here the project (also presented at the Salone Satellite in 2008), Lorenzo Petrantoni , Italian artist who, with his image a bit retro and dynamic conceptual installations (which seem to take inspiration kinetic art of the sixties) recreates these unique environments from antique flavor.
And here's a gem of the great Roman Bittner presenting these works of art made with an innovative technique: the parties seem positive laser cut. A meticulous and very interesting!
Below booklets Hei Shing Chan, winner of the Books category of this year:
and many other great artists:
We will try again next year? Definitely worth it!
