That the virtual band Gorillaz were the most successful one knows, because it entered the Guinness Book of Records with the sale, in 2001, about 6 million copies worldwide of their first album (the same name, Gorillaz). What you may not know is that this musical project was created in 1998 by Damon Albarn, leader of the illustrator Jamie Hewlett and Blur (then his roommate).
